Today is my wife’s birthday, so Evan and I took a couple of pictures for her.  The one with Evan on my head freaked Nicole out!  Evan on the other hand loved it…just look at that smile!

My sister Megan had her gallbladder removed yesterday (taking after her big bro).  In honor of my sister, here is a little present for you…hope you like it.

• When changing Evan’s diaper remember you are on the clock.  Once the used diaper gets off, you have a very small window of time to get the new one on before you get sprayed.  Unfortunately, you never know how much time is on this imaginary clock.  Therefore, work fast, but know…sometimes the effort is futile.  Unless of course you use one of these.  
• While a playlist with Mute Math, Coldplay, and STP might help me sleep…it doesn’t necessarily work for Evan.  Not yet at least.
• There is nothing in the world like having your son fall asleep on your chest.  Nothing.  Never thought I would say something like that….but there it is.
• Don’t walk around shirtless holding  Evan when it’s close to feeding time.  I’m just saying. 

Below are some notes to myself regarding last weeks creative olympics.  Hope some of these lessons help you to avoid some landmines in the future.

1. Never accept a challenge where the referee, judge, and jury have a vested interest in your competitor  winning.  Especially when the challenge is based around what the decision maker employs your competitor to do.  Just remember…it could look real bad on him if a great looking salesperson beat one of his employees that has ”creative” in his job description.  I’m just saying…
2. Never underestimate the power of being boring and lame.  In challenges where creativity is involved, it seems to be a bit of an advantage.
3. Get everything in writing before accepting an offer (challenge).  I learned this practicing real estate, but it seems that it applies to the rules of creative competitions also.  If you don’t, the rules and standards are open to be changed minute by minute, and when the deck is already stacked against you, you really need all the help you can get.

Most consider me a musical conesiur.  I consider myself an authority on what is good when it comes to music. 

I love great music, and i fiercly oppose crappy music.  I was driving down the road today, and realized that there are bands I hate so much,  I actually change the radio station when they come on.  By the way, I do this as a way to protest their continual suckiness.  In an effort to defame these acts, here they are…listed below. 

By the way, If you or anyone you know happen to like and listen to any of the artists below, you should a) be ashamed of yourself, and b) stop whatever you’re doing right now and go sit in the corner. 

#5  CREED - I don’t know if they are played on the radio much anymore, but wow do they suck.  When I think of sucky acts, they are definitely the first to come to mind!

#4 DAVID ARCHULETTA – That kid makes my skin crawl.  He’s a weirdo.  and I would rather listen to you sing than him.

#3 98.6% OF COUNTRY MUSIC – Need I say more?  

#2 THE BOSS – More like the boooo!  I know that having him on the list is going to offend a lot you, but its okay…just get some fireworks and shoot them at yourself while singing, “Born in the USA”. 

#1 NICKELBACK – Oh my gosh I hate these guys!  They are the most terrible band ever!  Why does the radio keep playing their crap!  Whoever calls the radio and requests this garbage is a bad person and should be kicked down a hill.  

Sorry for such a harsh post at the beginning of the week, but social justice is not for the faint of heart.

Well…the Creative Olympics have finally come to a close.  Entries have been submitted and votes will soon be tallied.  The competition was heated, violent, and downright intense.

At the end of the day, one thing is clear.  My opponent is not only one of the best guys I know, he is also one of the most creative (2nd to me of course).  Keep up the good work.  You’re great at what you do.  If you’re ever trying to create something funny and you need a good joke that pushes the envelop a little…give me a call!

Evan,

I love you very much son.  If there is one thing that I can impart to you in life, it is this…never quit!  You can do ALL things through Him who gives you strength.  So much of the success in your life will be determined by your attitude, and I always want you to believe that all things are possible.  Remember to always keep your head up, and push hard to the other side of every hill in your path.  Mom and I are always here for you.

The first day of competition in the Creative Olympics was a grueling slugfest, but as expected, I was the clear winner (to me, and everyone who appreciates good creative writing, as opposed to boring blog junk).  My opponent is so lame.  I had to double and triple up on my ADD medicine just to trudge through his 200 word bore-fest.
